Waterproof cum solar powered phone announced in Japan
Sharp and KDDI (the Japanese network carrier) have announced in Japan, what is being said to be the world’s first water-proof phone which is also solar-powered.
Apparently, it is aimed at territories which are low on power grids; nonetheless, the handset will be shipped around the globe.
As per what Gizmodo reports, the cell phone needs just 10 minutes of exposure to the sun and it is ready for two hours of standby and a minute of talktime! It has a battery that can be charged to up to 80 percent with solar power.
Not much of its features have been disclosed. Also the price is yet to be announced. However, from the looks of it, the phone seems to be a flip phone with a solar panel on the outside along with an external display that shows time.
The phone is a part of the Green Road Project 2009. It shall be expected in the market in the month of June this year.
